Official trailer for 'Becoming Led Zeppelin' documentary has been released

Led Zeppelin is coming back to the big screen, and the trailer is out now.

The highly anticipated documentary, Becoming Led Zeppelin, is set to finally be released in IMAX theatres early next year. 

Becoming Led Zeppelin tells the story of Led Zeppelin's early days in a more official way than has been done before. There are many Led Zeppelin documentaries out there, but none have been made by the band itself.

The film is a deep dive into the story of Led Zeppelin, told through the voices of the band members themselves, and features previously unheard interviews with the late John Bonham.

The documentary's release comes nearly four and a half decades after Led Zeppelin's breakup on December 4, 1980, following Bonham's untimely death. 

The film premiered at the Venice International Film Festival back in 2021 but has been re-titled and re-edited since then.

The last time the band was on the big screen was back in the 70s for the release of their iconic concert film The Song Remains The Same, which is considered one of the greatest concert films of all time.

"I had a mind-blowing experience seeing Led Zeppelin for the first time in August 1969 at the Texas International Pop Festival in Grapevine, Texas, and it has stayed with me ever since," says Sony Pictures co-president and co-founder Tom Bernard. 

"I cannot think of a single movie that more brilliantly draws you into an artist’s story, shows you how their music was made, and makes you experience it as if it were brand new. I know it will be inspirational to young people and legacy-defining for generations to come.”

We're unsure when it will be released in New Zealand, but it is set to be released February 8th in North America.
