A wet outfield and soggy run-up areas have prompted match officials to call off the opening day's play in the maiden cricket test between New Zealand and Afghanistan in Greater Noida, on the outskirts of Delhi.
Rain in the last 10 days had left little prospect of any action, which is understandable, given the match has been scheduled at the back end of the region's monsoon season.
The umpires undertook several inspections.
